Why I chose my major.

Not so hard to believe that back in High School, I thought I wanted to go into the culinary field and cook some of my own high quality dishes. I took a couple of foods classes, and I enjoyed the hands-on learning experience that came with those classes. It really made me want to become a chef! However, that dream was short-lived. After a talk with my parents, they told me that I would be better off into the computer/technology field, and that it'd be more time consuming and time-relaxed than culinary arts.

After going to the list of majors I could go for at Coastal, I chose to go for the Computer Programming route. I was thinking to go into IT (Information Technology) instead, but I knew that I was more experienced with code than I was with operating systems. When I complete my programming degree, I will take the remaining classes for the IT major. It would be a major plus to not only be a programmer, but I can know everything else there is to know about a computer. It's a long and hard route, but it'll be worth it financially.

So what experience do I have for programming? Believe it or not, I used to have StepMania, a DDR program, but you use the keyboard instead. As I was whoring out very difficult songs, I wrote some code into the ".ini" to make my own speed mods. Typically, there's a C400, which means the arrows will scroll as if 1x was 400 beats per minute. I would make my own C mod that would allow me to adjust to my comfort level. I kept making C mods every 25 BPM's until I hit C1000. That way, if I ever adjusted to another C mod, i could just change to it.

I used to remember the Javascript for how to make flash games as big or as small as you wanted it, but I forgot how to do it. I would simply copy/paste the heavily long code over the .swf URL and it would make the game bigger. Also, if you run Firefox, and you wish to view the code for every website, right click anywhere on this page, and view page source. There you will find C++ coding for the website! It's pretty cool!

This summer, I'm going to learn so much more about programming! I will be taking 3 programming classes this summer. I'll be taking RPG, COBOL, and Simulation and Game Development (SGD). I can't wait to get into C++ and Java! Those will be quite difficult, but fun!
